We are playing as Man is Doomed tomorrow at 10 o’clock at the 331 in Northeast Minneapolis as part of Art-a-Whirl. There is great music all day long at the 331, and there is also an entire neighborhood worth of people hosting various music and arts events. If you live in the Twin Cities and consider yourself ‘with it’, it really is a must attend event. And we are going to bring the funky sexiness reeeeaaaalllll hard.

Glorious Monster featured in Newport Beach Film Festival

Yes indeed, two blog post’s in one day. After posting two blogs all 2010 until now we have gotten a little backed up. We have indeed been up to stuff. You can read the interview with Vita.mn below to hear more about our general Jinglewriting careers, but I thought I would also post a link to this short film made for the Newport Beach Film Festival. It is the introduction to the ‘Drama’ category and features the final track from our debut Glorious Monster album Adventures on Earth ‘Alone at Last’.

It is awesome looking and features a song we have always loved and been very proud of. We are very pleased they featured it in such a sensually tantalizing way.

Bud Light Golden Wheat

It has been a while since our last post and for this I apologize. We had a busy winter/beginning to the new year, and whilst I haven’t been able to post many blog entries I have instead had time to work on more projects! One of which is an ad for Bud Light Golden Wheat which you can watch here.
Yes, we wrote an old school r&b make out tune, featuring the gloriously low voice of Darrell, the conga player in The Sounds of Blackness, a local grammy-award winning gospel group. It turned out deep and sexy so check it out!

I will be posting more of our recent ad spots from the past few months in the upcoming weeks, but I will spread them out, thus giving myself a reason to post more blog entries.

Hope winter has treated everyone well.

Glorious Monster single “In The Movies” to be featured on the CW’s smash hit Gossip Girl!

Earthlings,

The subject line lies not. It has been two years since the release of our debut Glorious Monster album, Adventures on Earth, and out of no where we just found out that the CW’s smash-hit/ flag ship show, Gossip Girl is featuring our first Glorious Monster single, In The Movies (which also has an amazing animated video, created by our good friend Chris Weller, that you can view by clicking on the link), on the season three debut which will air this coming Monday, September 14th @ 8 pm CT.

Hooray!

You may ask, “How did you get a song placed on a show like Gossip Girl??”

To which we may respond, “We don’t know, we have never watched the show (sorry CW) but we are really excited to be featured on any network tv show!! woot woot!”

So please check it out this upcoming Monday. I bet someone gets their sorry ass dumped!!!

OH, and for our fellow Minneapolis people’s, please mark October 17th as a day to get funky. That is right, Man is Doomed is playing another show. This time for free at 331 with our friends Hunting Club. Much merriment will be made.

“One Jump Ahead” from Aladdin remade in the style of Disco by Man is Doomed

So it has been too long since I posted anything on our modest blog. I apologize, but we have been swamped with ad/tv work, some of which I hope to share on this blog once it is completed and available for us to show off.

In the meantime, I am quite pleased to post our newest Man is Doomed remix (or in this case remake).

Here is the story: I was at one of those annoying piano cover bars with some of my old friends who like to indulge in such nonsense, and they started to cover the ballad from The Little Mermaid. People went crazy. They knew every word. They sang along with zeal. I was amazed at how much a room full of 20-somethings loved a song from their childhood. So the stick figures in my thought bubble started having a hoe-down, and the result was imagining One Jump Ahead from Aladdin with disco-beats, funk-guitars and nasty synths.

Continuing our series of remixes in the funktastic style of Man is Doomed we give to you our mix of Take Your Medicine by fellow Minnesotan’s, Cloud Cult. We like the original a lot and also felt the melancholic chord turn totally catered to the intensity and drama of disco music. We took what was originally a folk-pop-rock song and made it a funky-electro affair. Check it out.

People,

We write jingles by day. Hence the name of this blog being “The Jinglesmithy”. Just like a blacksmith, we are slaving away bending sound into certain shapes and sizes in our smithy all day. Back in December, we had the opportunity to demo some music for a potential eHarmony ad. We wrote a demos for it and they ended up using a folksy, Blackbird meets Landslide style piece that we wrote.

Reviews of Let it Rock MID remix and Rift Magazine review

People,

We decided to do a handful of remixes of other artists in the brutally funky style of Man is Doomed. The first of these is a remix of the Kevin Rudolf song Let it Rock. We don’t listen to very much top 40 music for the obvious reasons (most of it blows) but this song stood out to us as a truly catchy pop anthem. The only problem with it was the general lack of funkiness in the production. So we added to two funkles (units of funkiness) and a dash of disco.

Listen to it and hear what the blog-o-sphere has to say at any of Arjan Writes, Ear it Now, or Sex for Ears.

also, I found another favorable review of our debut album Escape to Europa at local music magazine/blog Rift Magazine.
